Papilledema is a condition in which increased pressure in or around the brain causes the part of the optic nerve inside the eye to swell. This condition is very uncomfortable as its symptoms include headaches, transient visual obscuration, double vision, neurological symptoms, nausea, and vomiting. Life becomes unpleasant. This was the case of Germaine Owen, as she was diagnosed with papilledema and intracranial hypertension. Often, she would lose her vision and experience severe swelling in the neck.
